FAQ

I have no known medical problems but my family members do. Do I need to go for screening tests?

Your doctor may recommend you to go for general or more screening tests. It is important to remember that the screening tests you need depend on your individual risk factors and health profile.

If you have a strong family history of a certain disease, screening for that particular disease may benefit you; if you have multiple risk factors for heart disease (e.g. diabetes, obesity, smoking, high blood cholesterol), you may benefit from some screening tests.

More importantly, talk to your family doctor first before going for these screening tests.

What should I do prior to the health screening?

A minimum 8 hours of fasting is required before the screening to ensure accurate result in your cholesterol profile and glucose tests. Food and beverages are not allowed during fasting period. However, plain water is strongly encouraged.

Can I still take medication before the test?
As you will be fasting for blood tests, kindly withhold all medications except anti-hypertensive medications. You should take them after the tests are done. For ultrasound, exercise stress test or echocardiogram, continue consuming your medications as usual.
